One compromised DevOps laptop. $6 billion exposed. What failed inside Binance's security architecture, and what does the breach reveal about the growing risks of AI-enabled cyberattacks?
Rob Hamilton, CEO of AnchorWatch and a leading contributor to the Bitcoin Red Team, joins Exploring Prosperity to examine the Binance hack, which he monitored publicly as it unfolded.
Rob explains how attackers could exploit the software controlling digital asset signing infrastructure without necessarily stealing the underlying private keys. We discuss the rapid freezing of stolen stablecoins, the suspected North Korean involvement, and why the distinction between security and resilience is so important.
We also examine the Coldcard exploit, the volunteer Bitcoin Red Team's investigation of vulnerabilities across hundreds of repositories, and Rob's experience using AI models to discover security flaws. In one case, he reproduced a known exploit for approximately $1.
The conversation then turns to Bitcoin custody and insurance, including how AnchorWatch structures its vaults to prevent unilateral movement of customer funds and how Lloyd's of London insurance can protect individual Bitcoin owners.
Finally, Rob explains why he expects a turbulent period for cybersecurity, why banks and hospitals may face similar threats, and why he ultimately believes AI will make our systems more secure.

Foundation.xyz: When it comes to protecting your Bitcoin, you shouldn’t have to simply trust the company that made your hardware wallet. Foundation believes in verifiability over reputation. Its firmware and apps are open source, its builds are reproducible, and both Passport Core and Passport Prime have undergone independent hardware security audits. The point isn’t simply that Foundation says its products are secure. It’s that you can verify that for yourself.
